Experience the breath of Life EXT.DAY OPEN OCEAN PROLOGUE Dark Screen. For a few seconds. From this soothing silence, we slowly fade into the picture. From a great height we see the open ocean. Below us the sea is calm, the gentle swell, the pulse of our planet, pulls us slowly down to her. In wide curves, we fly towards the sea, the picture appears far away from us an ancient Polynesian double hulled canoe where we fly gently over. On deck, we see men and women, the navigator is at the helm whose gaze into the clouds. Men are cooking on the deck. In addition, supplies for a very long journey. We are now hovering over to the canoe, we see the Navigator's shifts the canoe into the wind, strong wind fills the sails and a new course is located at. We fly past the canoe, losing sight of it and are now alone again over the ocean. Between us we feel the gentle movement of the majestic swell like the relaxed breathing, taking us into the rhythm. By the side an albatross floats slowly into the picture.
NARRATOR Welcome in the world of water, the source of all life … permeated by unspeakable energy, wild and beautiful, dangerous and soft. The language of the sea is the wave. Each one is unique and tells us with its rhythm, the story of her journey. Where do they come from and where they go, sometimes even what they have experienced. Some waves on long trips revolve around our planet one day at a remote beach one last time to reveal their tremendous beauty to remain only in our memory.
Now this wave reaches the shore, it rolls over a reef that runs further increases above a second reef raised from the water, broke in all its beauty and ends on a beautiful and secluded sandy beach. We continue to fly, over this little island, and in front of us once again the open ocean. Then it gets dark. FADE TO BLACK We hear the wind and the faint sound of the sea.
NARRATOR As the darkness at night surrounds us and makes us fear, there were times when even the day gave only unknown to man.
EXT.NIGHT OPEN OCEAN Out of the black the stars appear. The moon is above the horizon and casts a silvery light on the sea.
NARRATOR And nevertheless the darkness gives to them who wanna see all what they need. The stars‚ their sence, their mana and they will find what they are searching for.
EXT.SUNSET OPEN OCEAN – ISLANDS The sun sends its first rays over the horizon.
NARRATOR There are places on the planet that was conjured up by the gods themselves with a smile on the face of the earth.
Below us now appears in the fresh sunlight shimmering islands and atolls of the most beautiful in the blue and green colors.
NARRATOR One of those places is the South Sea, one of the cradles of human civilization, a culture of the sea. For millennia, inhabited by very special people. The Polynesians.
We will now revolve around an island with a village close to the beach. MEN carry a canoe to the beach and push it into the sea.
NARRATOR Living with the ocean, in the ocean and learning about this fluid enviroment, with no fear but deep respect, such as the Polynesians dealt with the sea, is the great differnce to other cultures of the earth.
Men paddle the canoe quickly through the water. In the shallow water at the beach youngsters hunting fish with their spears. We now continue to fly, over the canoe and get back into the sky. Far below us we see as a map on the eastern tip of Indonesia and the open ocean with scattered islands in front. EXT.DAY SFX LIVE FLIGHT TO NUKU HIVA High above the Pacific we are flying different waypoints. We see the Solomon Islands continues to Fiji, we fly between Samoa and Tonga in the direction of the Cook Islands. Deep into the Polynesian islands, the sea only occasionally interrupted by small dots that shows the myriad islands.
NARRATOR The gods gave the nature the task to transform the earth into a paradise. And it is precisely those places where nature has given a lot of effort.
Bora-Bora and Tahiti appears. We will fly through the countless islands of French Polynesia into the wide blue Pacific, slip into a gentle curve to the left and reach the Marquesas. We slip deeper and see again the ancient doublehulled canoe, this time ready at a booth located on Nuku Hiva. EXT.DAY MARQUESAS NUKU HIVA BEACH The beach is filled with people who want to say goodbye to the voyaging crew which is to begin a long journey. The huge canoe is pushed into the water and begins its journey.
NARRATOR Of these islands began more than 1500 years ago the longest journey of the Polynesians wayfinders. Far into uncharted waters, farther than ever before.
EXT.DAY OPEN OCEAN – CANOE The canoe sailed through rough waters. The Crew is fully concentrated. Only the Navigator stands on the rear and is watching the ocean. The trip is in full swing, and for days the men only see the sea.
NARRATOR This confidence in own talents, knowledge and courage made these trips possible. Where a wall for some the end means, for the acient sailors of Polynesia there was a door in the wall which leads the more exciting.
The sun sinks into the sea. EXT.NIGHT OPEN OCEAN CLOSE TO BIG ISLAND The NAVIGATOR is looking at the stars. The moon lights up the sea so that he can observe the course of the waves. Now he gets a little tense and overlooking the sea. He widens his eyes and realized on the horizon that will fire spewed from a volcano. All are waked up immediately. EXT.SUNSET OPEN OCEAN – CLOSE TO BIG ISLAND All stand respectfully at the edge of the canoe and look far from the eruptions of Kilauea. They will pass the island of Hawaii and sail to the north. The NAVIGATOR continue looking in the direction of travel and we see a faint smile on his face. We continue to fly and approach the white mountain. On the vast hills of Mauna Kea appear villages, the residents cultivate their land and we climb up on the flanks of the mountain and found ourselves in the solitude of Hawaii's highest point.
