Finally I made it. Ok, not the script but 2 acts of the story are finished. Its was important to find an calm break for the timejump.

We travel ahead in the story about 6 years. This act will start with an big hawai´ian celebration party. I want this scene to let pass in an easy way much of whats written in the script, with music and dancing.

Keoni is now in an age where he developes very own philosophies about life. On one side he is a young soulsurfer, not interested in competitions, on the other side he is a fighter, packed with energy and power. Which way he will go? Will he follow his fathers footsteps and became a shaper and teacher, does he follow his dreams or his talents or both? This is great about the future, its in our hands, in god´s hand and in the hands of family and friends who wants just the best for us.

To be honest, I don´t know how the story will developed besidee from the historical facts, it will develope while writing. For this script I have written an very detailed treatment. Since I started the script I just let flow the story like an open ocean wave, knowing the direction, but not knowing the obstacles which are appearing while running over the ocean.

It worked fine in the first 2 acts and I am confident that the swell keeps on running.

The 3rd act will tell about the years from Cook´s Landing until present days.

Puhhh, it is not always that easy. But finally I steered the canoe into the wind.

Whats always is in my mind, is to tell the story in an style which also will surprise. Suprising in the kind of the not usual way of showing the items to the viewer, in an way which I can bring different facts and also my view of the things in this one direction which makes it not only interesting, also to have to be sometimes thrilling elements in this planned movie.

Such a scene I had to write. The parts were, Kapu, caste system, Heiau. This all together in a scene which is placed in the ancient times.

It is my goal to bring the flow of the story in a simular way to the rhytm of the ocean. Which means that the story needs this pulse what we all feel when we are in the nature. Its a great gift that modern filmlanguage can support ideas of different kind of telling a story, bringing it together into one line.

Till now the story is flowing like an swell. There are ups and downs, there is colour and grey, its stormy an calm, fun and sadness. The scene which is placed in the past brings ancient surfing, the kapusystem, nature and mythology in one line. In the focus of this scenes there is an young
hawai´ian man who surfs the Ali´is wave.

The chase for the young men starts and it will be an hard way for this young man to reach the place where he can be forgiven. Inside this scene our Narrator will tell about some history facts. The curses brings the young man into the deep djungle, shows us the wonderful nature in contrast to the chase, will bring his fear to our minds and shows the enormous energy of an hunted man who never gives up.

When I was reading the first time about the Kapu system I was surprised how strictly and how human this system could be. All this most of the people don´t know because they never learned it in school. And so it is an big motivation for me showing all this historical facts with the techniques of modern filmmaking.

But now, inside the story, we will leave the, from europeans untouched Islands and stepping into the third act of the movie. The era from Cook´s landing till the dark times of surfing. The dark times of the islands…
